We are delighted that the garden has been awarded the GOLD Award for 2021.
Here’s an extract from the Judge’s comments:
From what was previously considered a very green looking garden (dominated by mature London Planes), a lot of work has been undertaken to introduce colour following previous judging recommendations, but this has been effected in a very subtle manner. Specifically, a perennial flower border has been created as an island bed around a young tree and other island shrub borders have used coloured foliage to good effect, and through the introduction of grasses, and spring and summer bulbs. The perimeter of the square is bordered on all four sides by dense shrub plantings, the species selection providing a tremendous amount of interest to the horticulturalist.
The square is being managed in a sustainable manner, all grass cuttings composted, with a new compost accelerator being trialled.
